Casting Call: “Sophont in Action”

Control Group is working with The Black Cube (website | Facebook), Denver's new nomadic art museum, to create the live performance element of visual artist Desiree Holmann's Sophont in Action – an installation event at Red Rocks Park in September.

We're looking for 40 performers of diverse ages and abilities to perform in this work.

Time Travelers:

Black Cube, Denver’s newest art museum, is casting characters for “Sophont in Action”, a live cinema performance by the artist Desiree Holman. We are seeking a diverse group of dancers, non-dancers, actors and non-actors to portray Time Travelers.

We are looking for:

· Ages 55 - 85.

· Long, white/grey hair preferred.

· Androgyny preferred.

· Willingness to wear (cumbersome)“Psionics” headgear.

· Willingness to learn and perform basic (simple) choreography.

Project details:

· Performance will take place at the Trading Post at Red Rocks Park on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

· Will provide participants with f a small honorarium of $50.

· There will be rehearsals required in advance of the performance date.

Ecstatic Dancers:

Black Cube, Denver’s newest art museum, is casting performers for “Sophont in Action”, a live cinema performance by artist, Desiree Holman. We are seeking a diverse group of dancers, non-dancers, actors and non-actors to portray an Ecstatic Dancer character.

We are looking for:

· Ages 18-50

· All genders, identities, and ethnicities.

· Ideally a mix of ecstatic dancers, pro dancers, actors, and amateur dancers.

· A willingness to engage with New Age ideas.

· Willingness to learn and perform basic (simple) choreography.

Project details:

· Performance will take place at the Trading Post at Red Rocks Park on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

· We will provide participants with an honorarium of $50.

· There will be rehearsals required in advance of the performance date.

Indigo Children:

Black Cube, Denver’s newest art museum, is casting performers for “Sophont in Action”, a live cinema at Red Rocks by artist, Desiree Holman. We are seeking a diverse group of professionals and nonprofessionals to portray the character of the Indigo Child.

We are looking for:

· Ideally mixed race. Olive to dark brown complexions preferred.

· Any genders. Androgyny preferred.

· Willingness to wear costume. Costume includes wearing non-toxic, food-grade blue dye on hands.

· Ability to focus on performance and have fun.

· Willingness to learn and perform basic (simple) choreography.

Project details:

· Performance will take place at the Trading Post at Red Rocks Park on the evening of Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

· We will provide participants an honorarium of $50.

· Adult supervision at all times.

· There will be rehearsals required in advance of the performance date.

Guides:

Black Cube, Denver’s newest art museum, is looking for volunteer performers for “Sophont in Action”, a live cinema performance by the artist, Desiree Holman. We are seeking a diverse group of volunteers - dancers, non-dancers, actors and non-actors - interested in the opportunity to serve as Guides for the performance and to interact with viewers.

We are Looking for:

· All ages, genders and races.

· Must like people and be willing to engage with strangers.

· Comfortable wearing media pouches around your necks displaying screens with a video slideshow.

Event details:

· Performance will take place at the Trading Post at Red Rocks Park on the afternoon and evening of Thursday, September 30, 2015

· There will be rehearsals required in advance of the performance date.
