HOME Studio - Residencies
In 2025-26 Control Group is offering (2) creative residencies at our Home Studio in Lakewood for performing arts projects by local artists/groups.
Selected residents will receive:
~80 hours of studio time.
$1,300 stipend to pay artists
CGP personnel support for a public sharing event at the Studio
Promotional assistance for any subsequent production.
An optional Teaching Artist Mentorship Track is available, focusing on Lesson Planning and Facilitation Skills Development.
Values & Priorities
Control Group aims to serve emerging and underresourced artists pursuing experimental and emergent methods and aesthetics within dance/movement, theatre, and multidisciplinary approaches. Visit our Values Statement for more.
Residency projects can focus on the creation of a new performance work or development of a teaching curriculum.
Project selection prioritizes artistic and social value and urgency, the project’s contribution to the local community, and the value of the residency to the project. We prioritize projects already in motion, where the residency can serve as a crucial catalyst for the work to come to fruition.
Residencies take place at the Home Studio of Control Group’s artistic directors – a residential property in north Lakewood. This creates limitations and also lovely opportunities for reciprocal relationship-building and support. This program is intended for artists excited to embrace those fruitful complexities collaboratively.
Eligibility
Applicants should have a history of creative activities within the genre or methods of their project.
Applicants must be based in the Denver-Boulder metro area.
Residency periods can vary from several weeks to several months, and must be completed by September 30, 2026.
Projects can be in various states of development, and be ready to begin residency activities within one month of acceptance.
Projects should have a vision for a public sharing after the residency concludes (live performances, workshops, or other form of engagement). Priority will be given to projects already underway.
Application Timeline
