Meet our new Programs Manager - Mona de Amor

Hello there!

It’s truly an honor to introduce myself as the new Program Manager for Control Group Productions.

For those who may not be familiar with my background, here’s a little about me:

My name is Mona de Amor (formerly Mona Magno). Born and raised in Denver nearly 30 years ago, I began songwriting at 13 and, by 17, had founded my first company—FreeMusicForFreePeople—a community-driven music and media initiative that deepened my roots in Denver’s creative scene. Over the years, I’ve collaborated with incredible organizations, most notably spending nearly a decade in various roles at Youth on Record. Along the way, I’ve produced many events, facilitated years of classes, coordinated several projects, and—most meaningfully—connected with countless inspiring individuals. More than any accomplishment, what matters most to me is how I show up—for the work, for the people, and for the community. Projects may come and go, but the relationships built along the way are the true gifts of this journey. (If you are interested in seeing more of my work over the years, you can visit my website or read my full bio.)

I can’t help but feel my path has led me here—to Control Group Productions. Saying I align with CGP’s values feels like an understatement. I’m continually inspired by this team’s commitment to the real work—not just the paperwork, but the willingness to grow, to embrace accountability, to lead from the heart (even in tough moments), and to find humor in the process.

If you’ve followed CGP’s updates, you know the organization is navigating challenges, including supporting Patrick’s recovery after surgery. While some might hesitate to step in during such a time, I’m approaching this time with such optimism and an open heart.

My journey with CGP began earlier this year as a producer for the 2025 GAP Artists, Raw Groove. Jumping into this project was a dream—leveraging my event experience to connect CGP with Denver’s nightlife energy while supporting the incredible leadership of Constance Harris and Taylor Madgett. (I even got to contribute some videography - watch here.)

For many, my move into CGP’s orbit wasn’t surprising—but some have asked, “Why CGP?” To me, CGP lives at the intersection of performance, social justice, and artistic responsibility. As both an artist and a community advocate, joining CGP wasn’t just an opportunity—it was a calling. Every day with this team reaffirms: This is exactly where I’m meant to be.

So—thank you all for having me.

— Mona de Amor (they/them)
