HOME Residency Program
Control Group Productions offers residencies for emerging artists working in experimental dance/movement, theatre, and multidisciplinary performance. These residencies are intended to be a catalyst for artists to develop a new performance work or teaching curriculum, with priority given to projects already in motion that need a push to completion. Currently, Home Studio Residencies take place in north Lakewood CO, in our residential studio.
Started informally in the Fall of 2025 at the request of PassionFruit Dance Company, our residency program has since grown into a fully funded program with open calls occurring at least once a year.
There is no open call for our residency program at the moment.

Angel Miguel Garcia
‘Grita Mi Negrita’
Angel is a Nigerian and Mexican playwright, musician and actor based in Denver. Their work often highlights the beauty and mysticism that live within queer and trans walks of life. Unafraid to challenge the boundaries of theatre, the subversive and interdisciplinary nature of their work reclaims narrative through a lens that is as playful as it is provocative.
In the summer of 2026, we’re honored to offer our space to ‘Grita Mi Negrita’ — a bilingual movement-musical where a spiritual retreat to Mexico spirals into a surreal reckoning with ancestry, colonization, and unearthing the power of one’s grito. Angel will perform their work in progress on August 1st, 2026 free to the public.

T Carlis Roberts
T. Carlis Roberts (he/him) is an artist and scholar who engages sound as a tool for liberation. His professional work has straddled theater, music, film, television, dance, and performance art — each project driven by the desire to disrupt colonial structures and develop new vocabularies for expression.
In the winter of 2026, we welcomed T and his team to our studio, While typically depicted as a failed insurrection, STONO asks: Is there another story? Combining music, spoken text, and movement, STONO imagines a more expansive and surprising story about that fateful event, a space in which revolution extends beyond racial politics, human temporality, and material space. STONO is now being produced as Control Group’s newest GAP Project to premiere in winter 2027.
