Offered as an alternative to standard holiday fare, Bitter Moon how we can reconnect to our heritage. in order to reframe what this time of year could look like outside of our normal traditions.

Bitter Moon invites audiences into a surreal world drawing from Midwinter traditions across the globe to follow The Wild Hunt as we move through a winter's night together. Bitter Moon explores the vital importance of wilderness, wildness, and community as we gather together on the longest nights of the year.

Over a 70-minute, 1.2-mile journey on paved and gravel trails, Bitter Moon threads dance, theatre, music, and design into a luscious experience of being out in nature at night. We offer guests warm drinks and extra layers to keep warm as we invite them to join us in celebrating the turning of the year and the time-in-between.

As we explore this new terrain of "Expeditionary Performance" in the winter we are creating a responsive threshold for snow and cold at around 20 degrees, depending on wind chill. Warm drinks will be provided at the beginning of the performance. Please come prepared with clothing that will keep you warm for the full 70 minute show. A more detailed accessibility guide will be available soon.

Bitter Moon is made in deep collaboration with Alpine Artist Collective, and is made possible by Majestic View Nature Center, SCFD, Bonfils Stanton, Colorado Creative Industries, and The Fort Fund

A Note on Accessibility and Outdoor Winter Temperatures

As we explore this new terrain of "Expeditionary Performance" in the winter we are creating a responsive threshold for snow and cold at around 20 degrees, depending on wind chill. Warm drinks will be provided at the beginning of the performance. Please come prepared with clothing that will keep you warm for the full 70-minute show. A more detailed accessibility guide will be available soon.

We have one track for audience members with different mobility needs, one section does take place on a downhill gravel trail. The show will take place entirely outdoors and at night, meaning that our most mobility-accessible options still have an element of danger. We do have an option for a staff member to accompany any audience member who would like additional assistance of any kind, please reach out to Caroline if this is something you may be interested in. Here is a link to full mobility and accesibility guide.

Created and Directed by Claire Kendall, Patrick Mueller, and Caroline Sharkey in collaboration with performers:  Nathan Bala, Grace Cooper, Anhthi “Maria” Lindsey, and Katrin Roach. With sound design by Silen Wellington and David Castillo. Costume and Set design by Irene Joyce. Stage managed by Emma Kimball and Rita Maria Aires.
